A brand new day, and a LOT accomplished!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Just as a reminder, here are those&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT DATES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thurs, Dec 10th: Language Arts Case 21<\/p>\n<p>Thurs, Dec 10th: APTT meeting # 2 5:30 \u2013 6:30 PM<\/p>\n<p>Fri, Dec 11th: Math Case 21<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tues, Dec 15th: Field Trip to North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences<\/p>\n<p>Wed, Dec 16th: Science Case 21<\/p>\n<p>Friday, Dec 18th: Last day of 2nd quarter<\/p>\n<p>We then have a LONG track-out, and don\u2019t come back in until January 25th!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So this morning we looked over our persuasive essays for the LAST TIME. \u00a0We did peer editing and hopefully fixed alllllll of our problems. \u00a0The final paper is due tomorrow! \u00a0Many students have really come a long way since the first draft,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We then started talking about the brain, and the human central nervous system. \u00a0We had some really great discussion and a lot of good questions. \u00a0Many students were surprised to realize just how small (compared to their preconceptions) their brain is. \u00a0We looked at many real pictures of the brain, the spinal cord, and the nerves. \u00a0It was a lot of fun.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight students have a short selection on the brain to read. \u00a0They should take notes as they read, and record them in their science journal. \u00a0These should be taken just as we have taken them before: \u00a0Notes on the right side, and then questions those notes would answer on the left.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/HumanBrain.pdf\">HumanBrain<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Next we started reading &#8220;The Night Gardener&#8221; together. \u00a0It is one of the books from the North Carolina Children&#8217;s Books Awards. \u00a0I will read this book and one other to the students, and they will be responsible for picking and reading 3 on their own. \u00a0At the end of 3rd quarter we will vote on the 2015-2016 North Carolina Children&#8217;s book of the year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We then talked a LOT about multiplying fractions, and did some more examples which students should have recorded in their math journals. \u00a0Tonight students have another set of 4 problems to finish. \u00a0As always, there is an example!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/MultiplyingFractions2.pdf\">MultiplyingFractions2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SO, tl;dr<\/p>\n<p>Finish persuasive essay<\/p>\n<p>Take notes on the brain in your science journal<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/HumanBrain.pdf\">HumanBrain<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Do some fraction multiplication problems<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/MultiplyingFractions2.pdf\">MultiplyingFractions2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And read!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have a good one,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>-Mr. Potter<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yay!
