Please be aware that school ends at 12:30 tomorrow.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SOOOO MUCH MATH!!!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This week has been a lot of fun. \u00a0Being able to really focus on something like our math has allowed us to get a lot done!<\/p>\n<p>I apologize for no update yesterday. \u00a0Unfortunately my hosting provider had some problems and a number of sites were down for a good part\u00a0of the day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Today we did our last burst of math review bootcamp.<\/p>\n<p>We talked about mental strategies for adding and subtracting simple numbers:<\/p>\n<p>8 + 7 = 8 + (2+5) = 10 + 5 = 15<\/p>\n<p>12 &#8211; 5 = 12 &#8211; (2+3) = 10 &#8211; 3 = 7<\/p>\n<p>We talked about multiplying powers of ten<\/p>\n<p>10 * 1\/100 = 10\/100 = 1\/10 = .1<\/p>\n<p>We talked about breaking numbers down into parts in order to multiply them<\/p>\n<p>40 x 0.03 = 4 x 10 x 3 x 1\/100 = 4 x 3 x 10 x 1\/100 = 12 x 10 x 1\/10 = 120 x 1\/10 \u00a0= 120\/10 = 12.0<\/p>\n<p>We talked about how there are many different ways to name a number, and how these can help us:<\/p>\n<p>300 can be&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>300 ones<\/p>\n<p>30 tens<\/p>\n<p>3 hundreds<\/p>\n<p>3000 tenths<\/p>\n<p>and so on!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We then talked about how we put all of this together to do something like multiplying decimals. \u00a0Tonight part of their math packet involves this.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tonight students have another packet of &#8230;.MATH! to do. YAY!<\/p>\n<p>They should finish this entire packet EXCEPT for the last page. \u00a0I made it very clear that they should not touch this last page.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MathPacketFeb11.pdf\" rel=\"\">MathPacketFeb11<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>no real need for one, but here is the tl;dr anyway:<\/p>\n<p>read!<\/p>\n<p>12:00 dismissal tomorrow!<\/p>\n<p>Math packet (don&#8217;t do last page!)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MathPacketFeb11.pdf\" rel=\"\">MathPacketFeb11<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Also it is not allowed to snow tomorrow or Monday or Tuesday. \u00a0I have decided this.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have a good one,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>-Mr. Potter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tomorrow is a half day!
