{"id":1513,"date":"2016-06-06T19:31:21","date_gmt":"2016-06-06T19:31:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=1513"},"modified":"2016-06-06T19:31:21","modified_gmt":"2016-06-06T19:31:21","slug":"homework-jun-6th-mon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=1513","title":{"rendered":"Homework Jun 6th (Mon)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What a great Monday! \u00a0I had a meeting this morning, so the children were left a bit to their own devices during morning check-in, and they did a fantastic job. \u00a0We have a firm grip on our routine at this point.<\/p>\n<p>So we did some review of plants, animals, ecosystems, biomes, food chains, food webs, and all that kind of stuff this morning. \u00a0We have received a big ol&#8217; review packet, and took a bunch of little quizzes to see how much we remember. \u00a0It went much better than expected!<\/p>\n<p>Tonight students should answer questions 1-20 in the packet. \u00a0We did 1-5 together in class. \u00a0They should also pick two words from the packet (or from their science journal) and define the words in the back of their science journal in their own words.<\/p>\n<p>Next we did some work on our project. \u00a0This week students are figuring out their taxes, utilities, and their student loan payments. \u00a0To say the children were surprised at the amount of money they would be paying in taxes is an understatement. \u00a0They were also in a bit of shock after we talked about utilities and other necessary bills. \u00a0All of a sudden students realized they have much less money \u00a0than they thought they did.<\/p>\n<p>We had an opportunity to talk about how sometimes when parents say we can&#8217;t go out to eat every day or we can&#8217;t buy every video game in the world, it&#8217;s not because they are being mean. \u00a0I really like some of the discussion and questions the students have brought up with this project.<\/p>\n<p>This also gave us a great opportunity to review multiplying by decimals, as we worked out our tax rates and net income!<\/p>\n<p>Next we talked about the basic mathematical operations, and did some more work with volume. \u00a0Tonight students should finish pages 172 &#8211; 179 in their math coach. \u00a0This deals mostly with volume and area.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>so, tl;dr<\/p>\n<p>Finish questions 1-20 in the science eog review packet.<\/p>\n<p>Pick two words from the packet or science journal, and define them in your own words in the back of your science journal.<\/p>\n<p>Pages 172-179 in Math Coach<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Read!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have a good one,<\/p>\n<p>-Mr. Potter<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a great Monday! \u00a0I had a meeting this morning, so the children were left a bit to their own devices during morning check-in, and they did a fantastic job. \u00a0We have a firm grip on our routine at this point.
