{"id":1632,"date":"2016-09-07T19:51:10","date_gmt":"2016-09-07T19:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=1632"},"modified":"2016-09-07T19:51:10","modified_gmt":"2016-09-07T19:51:10","slug":"homework-sep-7-wed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=1632","title":{"rendered":"Homework Sep 7 (Wed)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Reminder: Tomorrow (9-8) is PICTURE DAY!<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This week is so short!<\/p>\n<p>This morning we continued talking about how decimals are simply fractions in base 10 form. \u00a0We talked about multiplying simple fractions, and how we can represent numbers in these different forms.<\/p>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<p>4 x 1\/10 = 4\/10 = .4<\/p>\n<p>These are all different ways to represent an equivalent value. \u00a0They aren&#8217;t the SAME, but they ARE equivalent (have the same value). \u00a0This is important because sometimes different forms of a number will help us to do certain things easier.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight students have some of these equivalencies to do. \u00a0As always there are examples (In the form of last night&#8217;s homework)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/DecimalFractionPracticeSep7.pdf\">decimalfractionpracticesep7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This week we began our foray into social studies by talking about the human timeline on Earth up to the age of exploration, which really begins the modern day history of the United States. \u00a0Tonight students have some more reading on this to do, and some simple questions to answer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/AgeOfExploration.pdf\">ageofexploration<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In science we went outside, took a look at our plants, and realized they were missing two VERY important things: Water, and sunlight. \u00a0We had placed our plants right up against the side of the building so as to avoid the tropical storm that hit us this Labor Day weekend. \u00a0This unfortunately meant they weren&#8217;t getting much sunlight. \u00a0We moved our planters out into open sunlight and gave them a good watering. \u00a0Hopefully we&#8217;ll see some improvement in the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We talked a great deal about how we can see if our plants our doing well or not. \u00a0We decided one way to do this would be to measure their growth. \u00a0We then talked about how we can go about recording this data in an easy to see and understand way. \u00a0This lead to us creating some graphs that we will use to record the growth data on our plants.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Please remember TOMORROW IS PICTURE DAY!!!<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>so, tl;dr<\/p>\n<p>Write out some equivalencies:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/DecimalFractionPracticeSep7.pdf\">decimalfractionpracticesep7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Read and answer some questions (the first five) about the age of exploration:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/AgeOfExploration.pdf\">ageofexploration<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And read!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have a good one,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>-Mr. Potter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reminder: Tomorrow (9-8) is PICTURE DAY! &nbsp; This week is so short!
