{"id":1704,"date":"2016-11-01T19:58:34","date_gmt":"2016-11-01T19:58:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=1704"},"modified":"2016-11-01T19:58:34","modified_gmt":"2016-11-01T19:58:34","slug":"qtr-2-day-2-11-1-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=1704","title":{"rendered":"QTR 2 DAY 2 (11.1.2016)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we continued our talk of Base 10. \u00a0We took some notes in our notebooks:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Base10Notes.pdf\">base10notes<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next we talked about how base 10 numbers are made up of different parts, and talked about how we can write things in expanded form.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For example we might have something like 654.<\/p>\n<p>This number is made up of:<\/p>\n<p>6 hundreds = 6 x 100 = 6 x 10^2<\/p>\n<p>5 tens = 5 x 10 = 5 x 10^1<\/p>\n<p>4 ones = 4 x 1 = 4 x 10^0<\/p>\n<p>Which led us into the discussion and explanation of how anything raised to the 0th power is 1.<\/p>\n<p>We did an example of this expanded notation in our example notebooks:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ExpandedNotationExample.pdf\">expandednotationexample<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We then talked about counting in base two.
