\u00a0As did Star Reading scores, and Third Quarter Case 21 scores. \u00a0Of course I forgot to send the report cards home in those nifty little manila envelopes. \u00a0Instead it is all just in the Monday Folder. \u00a0I apologize for that, and will be sending the nifty little folders home tomorrow to get signed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In math today, we finished up our exploration of division using money. \u00a0We began talking about the normal long division algorithm, and how it equates to what we have been doing, and the shortcuts and visual representation it provides. \u00a0I told the students there was a hard way and an easy way to do it. \u00a0They have become so accustomed to using the sentences, that they are now calling the shortcut long-division method the &#8216;hard&#8217; way. \u00a0In math tonight, they have a single problem to do. \u00a0They should do this problem BOTH ways. \u00a0On one half of their paper they should write sentences, and on the other side, they should do it using the traditional long division algorithm.<\/p>\n<p>Here is an example that the students copied into their math journals today. \u00a0They should have also taken home their math journals for reference.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/LongDivision.pdf\">LongDivision<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The problem they should do these ways is:<\/p>\n<p>62.65 <span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00f7<\/span>\u00a05 =<\/p>\n<p>In Language Arts, we talked again about our junct\/join\/jug words, shared our stories, and addressed a few misconceptions on usage. \u00a0We then took our vocabulary quiz. \u00a0I haven&#8217;t graded them all just yet, but it looks very promising.<\/p>\n<p>We also read a short selection in our motivation reading about electricity, and talked about how electricity is generated. \u00a0We linked this back to forces and motion, and talked about air pressure. \u00a0We also watched a short video on geothermal energy.<\/p>\n<p>For Language Arts, students should answer the short response questions on pages 67 and 68 of their Motivation Reading books.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It was a fairly short and sweet day. \u00a0The kids are doing a good job, and for the most part doing their work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>tldr:<\/p>\n<p>One math problem done the hard way and the easy way:<\/p>\n<p>62.65\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00f7<\/span>\u00a05 =<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Two pages in motivation reading: 67 &amp; 68<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have a good night!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>-Mr. Potter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So today was the big day&#8230;. &nbsp; Report cards did go home today!
