{"id":191,"date":"2014-04-29T19:51:28","date_gmt":"2014-04-29T19:51:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=191"},"modified":"2014-04-29T19:51:28","modified_gmt":"2014-04-29T19:51:28","slug":"homework-april-29-tues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=191","title":{"rendered":"Homework April 29 (Tues)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Decimals, Division, and Dragons, oh my!<\/p>\n<p>Well, not really dragons.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are in full swing, connecting our algorithm for dividing money among people to our long division algorithm. \u00a0For homework, the students should do math problems involving division of decimals. \u00a0They may either do this using their sentences, or they may use the long division algorithm. \u00a0If they take it upon themselves to do both, that would be fantastic, however.<\/p>\n<p>In case you need a look at the example again, here it is:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/LongDivision.pdf\">LongDivision<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The two problems they should do are:<\/p>\n<p>456.27\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00f7 3 =<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2394.8 \u00f7 2 =\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Students should also finish the motivation reading passage, and answer the questions on page 63-66.<\/p>\n<p>Students will turn in their motivation reading books tomorrow for a GRADE on this passage. \u00a0Please make sure it is finished, and done well.<\/p>\n<p>We also introduced the new vocabulary words. \u00a0Students should write a sentence for each word, but this is not due until THURSDAY.<\/p>\n<p>One of our words this week is &#8216;fractal&#8217;, so we watched the first 10ish minutes of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lmxJ1KDR_s0\">this<\/a> video to help explain it. \u00a0It&#8217;s a great video, and if you have time, go ahead and watch the rest!<\/p>\n<p>We went into the computer lab this morning and took another Lexille Star test. \u00a0We talked a bit beforehand about taking these kinds of tests seriously, as they give us as teachers very valuable information about students&#8217; abilities. \u00a0 The students put in a great effort this time around, and I was very happy with the results as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>We talked about weather and that it is the state of the atmosphere. \u00a0We also learned that air moves from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure, and that this is what causes the wind. \u00a0We will be exploring weather this semester, and I&#8217;m looking forward to all of the great science we will get to do!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>so tldr;<\/p>\n<p>In math two problems done either way, or both, students&#8217; choice:<\/p>\n<p>456.27\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00f7 3 =<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2394.8 \u00f7 2 =\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In Language Arts, pages 63-66 in motivation reading. \u00a0The motivation reading books will be turned in for a GRADE on these pages tomorrow, as well as yesterday&#8217;s 67-68. \u00a0Make sure they are done well!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s all for today, have a good night!<\/p>\n<p>-Mr. Potter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Decimals, Division, and Dragons, oh my!
