{"id":343,"date":"2014-06-20T19:57:13","date_gmt":"2014-06-20T19:57:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=343"},"modified":"2014-06-20T19:57:13","modified_gmt":"2014-06-20T19:57:13","slug":"science-review-and-sotc-june-20-fri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=343","title":{"rendered":"Science review and SOTC, June 20 (Fri)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Science review and State of the Classroom!<\/p>\n<p>Long time no post!<\/p>\n<p>So this week we took our Math and Language Arts EOGs.<\/p>\n<p>Our kids really worked their tails off. \u00a0I was so incredibly impressed with how hard they worked on both of those tests. \u00a0In both cases, we were the absolute last class testing among all of fifth grade. \u00a0Our kids double and triple checked their work, and really thought about what they were doing. \u00a0It was fantastic. \u00a0Regardless of what scores come back, I am satisfied that everyone did their best on those assessments.<\/p>\n<p>BUT WE AREN&#8217;T DONE YET!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We have spent the last few days reviewing basically the entire year&#8217;s worth of science. \u00a0It has been a bit rocky for me as I wasn&#8217;t here for the first half, so I wasn&#8217;t too sure what the students new about a lot of things. \u00a0We have been rotating between using study island on the computers, studying independently, groups, and taking practice assessments. \u00a0I am very happy with how hard the students are still working after having such an exhausting Monday and Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>There IS homework this weekend!<\/p>\n<p>Students at this point should have three review packets &#8211; one on weather, one on human body systems, and one on ecosystems. \u00a0The first two should already be finished and checked. \u00a0Their homework this weekend is to finish the third packet on ecosystems. \u00a0They also have a science journal with some notes and a science textbook. \u00a0They should be looking through these, at the topics we have covered, and ensuring they understand these concepts. \u00a0If they are still stuck on anything or confused, they should come in Monday with questions to be answered!<\/p>\n<p>Just one week remaining. \u00a0I know it&#8217;s rough, but we&#8217;ll get through it!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So, tldr;<\/p>\n<p>finish ecosystems packet<\/p>\n<p>study!<\/p>\n<p>Science EOG on Tuesday!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our final year end celebration and awards ceremony is on Thursday.
