{"id":421,"date":"2014-08-25T19:30:34","date_gmt":"2014-08-25T19:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=421"},"modified":"2014-08-25T19:30:34","modified_gmt":"2014-08-25T19:30:34","slug":"homework-aug-25-mon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=421","title":{"rendered":"Homework Aug 25 (Mon)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Centers Centers Everywhere!<\/p>\n<p>This morning we rolled out some math centers.<\/p>\n<p>I usually like to split students up into small groups and have them work on what they need to be working on\/practicing in centers. \u00a0Today we went over the expectations for center times, and students did three rotations. \u00a0Overall, the students did very well. \u00a0We had small groups helping each other, and working together. \u00a0Aside from a few students getting a *tad* excited with the multiplication facts card games, the students also did a great job keeping their voices at a reasonable level. \u00a0Many of the groups did not get much done, but that will change as students become more and more comfortable with the switching, and can settle into a routine.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight students should do page 39 in the motivation math book (It&#8217;s decimal problems!)<\/p>\n<p>In Language Arts we are really drilling the reasoning and evidence points. \u00a0We&#8217;re having some issues with our reasoning not actually matching up to the question that was asked. \u00a0We may have to move into some strategies for this. \u00a0I am still concerned that some students are stuck in a mindset of &#8220;I have selected an answer, therefore I am finished&#8221;. \u00a0We will be focusing on quality and comprehension.<\/p>\n<p>In that vein, students have a short reading passage to go over, and 4 comprehension questions to answer. \u00a0The passage and questions are on page 168 of their motivation reading books. \u00a0They should have an answer and reasoning to go with each answer. \u00a0They will turn this in tomorrow for a Language Arts Quiz grade.<\/p>\n<p>In Science we spent some time talking about our plants. \u00a0We determined that they were not getting enough sunlight where they were, and moved them. \u00a0We saw some new growth today, which was exciting, but also saw that some of our cucumbers had bit the dust. \u00a0Some students also pointed out that our plants seem to have already attracted the attention of some pests, and we&#8217;ll have to talk about what we can do to protect them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>so, tl;dr<\/p>\n<p>P 39 in motivation math (more decimals, yay!)<\/p>\n<p>p 168 in motivation reading (REASONING FOR EACH ANSWER ON A SEPARATE SHEET OF PAPER PLEASE!)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Also, some students got a letter today about upcoming things in the AIG program. \u00a0If you have any questions about that, please send me an e-mail.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have a good one!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>-Mr. Potter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Centers Centers Everywhere!
