{"id":549,"date":"2014-11-13T20:31:47","date_gmt":"2014-11-13T20:31:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=549"},"modified":"2014-11-13T20:32:53","modified_gmt":"2014-11-13T20:32:53","slug":"homework-oct-13-thurs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=549","title":{"rendered":"Homework Nov 13 (Thurs)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Where did the week go?! \u00a0Having a holiday on Tuesday can totally throw you for a loop.<\/p>\n<p>The students have been absolutely phenomenal this week. \u00a0This morning they were 100% on task during morning work, and only talked to help each other with the morning problem. \u00a0We&#8217;ve ended almost every day at negative five, and we have cut our calling out in half at least. \u00a0Just great stuff.<\/p>\n<p>This morning we went over yesterday&#8217;s homework and it appears most students are getting it, and we&#8217;re clearing up our general division misconceptions or misunderstandings. \u00a0Tonight students have four new problems to do:<\/p>\n<p>365.3 <b>\u00f7<\/b>\u00a00.4<\/p>\n<p>251.5 \u00a0<b>\u00f7<\/b>\u00a00.001<\/p>\n<p>467.4 <b>\u00f7<\/b>\u00a01.5<\/p>\n<p>111.111 <b>\u00f7<\/b>\u00a02<\/p>\n<p>Some of these might require that they multiply both dividend and divisor by some factor of ten, and some they might be able to do without doing this. \u00a0It is up to them to figure out which works best.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Language Arts we talked a good bit about bubble maps, and picking main ideas that we can support with details from the text. \u00a0Tonight students have a passage that we did a bubble map for together. \u00a0There are some questions also associated with this passage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/GaspingForAirBubbleMap.pdf\">GaspingForAirBubbleMap<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Students then got to take a Time for Kids of their choice. \u00a0They should pick one of the articles in the Time for Kids (one of the page long ones!) and create a bubble-map for it.<\/p>\n<p>Next we did some work on their Goldilocks stories. \u00a0Many got a chance to talk with Mrs. Woodlief about them. \u00a0She was very impressed with the writers in our class!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we made a big long list of all of our data points for our plants. \u00a0Most students finished this, and can begin their graphing tomorrow. \u00a0This took a LOT longer than I thought it would!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>so, tl;dr<\/p>\n<p>4 division problems<\/p>\n<p>365.3 <b>\u00f7<\/b>\u00a00.4<\/p>\n<p>251.5 \u00a0<b>\u00f7<\/b>\u00a00.001<\/p>\n<p>467.4 <b>\u00f7<\/b>\u00a01.5<\/p>\n<p>111.111 <b>\u00f7<\/b>\u00a02<\/p>\n<p>One set of reading questions and one Time for Kids bubble map!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/GaspingForAirBubbleMap.pdf\">GaspingForAirBubbleMap<\/a><\/p>\n<p>as always, read for 30 minutes<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ALSO tomorrow we are having pajama and a movie day. \u00a0Students may come to school in their pajamas if they like, and we are going to watch a short little animated film during lunch\/recess and maybe have some popcorn.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have a good one!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>-Mr. Potter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Where did the week go?! \u00a0Having a holiday on Tuesday can totally throw you for a loop.
