OH NO! \u00a0We had to model and discuss how independent and group work should look, and we will give it another go tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We talked briefly about simplifying fractions, and how we can divide by a form of one just like we multiply by a form of one. \u00a0A simplified fraction is just an equivalent fraction that has been reduced to the least number of fractional parts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tonight students have another sheet of adding fractions and finding equivalent fractions. \u00a0They should draw a fractional representation of each number, and then find equivalent fractions where the denominators are equal before they add.<\/p>\n<p>In case they need examples, here are those from yesterday:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/AddingFractionsExample.pdf\">AddingFractionsExample<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And today&#8217;s homework:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/EquivFractionAddingHomeworkFeb10.pdf\">EquivFractionAddingHomeworkFeb10<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Language Arts we talked about the poem &#8220;If&#8221; by Rudyard Kipling. \u00a0This is one of my favorite poems, and probably his most famous. \u00a0(In case you&#8217;re thinking the name seems familiar, he&#8217;s the one who wrote The Jungle Book). \u00a0Tonight students should re-write the first stanza line-by-line in their own words. \u00a0Here is the poem:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/If-Passage.pdf\">If Passage<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Science we talked quite a bit more about weather and clouds, and took some notes. \u00a0We also went outside and looked at the great nimbostratus clouds outside. \u00a0The kids complained about being cold the WHOLE TIME and we had to go inside quickly \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n<p>Tonight students have that weather passage I was talking about o read through again, and answer some questions. \u00a0As always, the answers should be accompanied by reasoning!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Weather_Intro.pdf\">Weather_Intro<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>so, tl;dr<\/p>\n<p>adding fraction worksheet:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/EquivFractionAddingHomeworkFeb10.pdf\">EquivFractionAddingHomeworkFeb10<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Write the first stanza of &#8216;If&#8217; in your own words:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/If-Passage.pdf\">If Passage<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Answer Weather Questions with reasoning: \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Weather_Intro.pdf\">Weather_Intro<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And read for 35 minutes<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Students also got their class picture forms today. \u00a0Class picture day is February 26th.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have a good one!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>-Mr. Potter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today we finally got back into our center routine!! &nbsp; annnnnd it was a disaster!! \u00a0We seem to have forgotten how to do work on our own!
