{"id":708,"date":"2015-02-12T20:25:46","date_gmt":"2015-02-12T20:25:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=708"},"modified":"2015-02-12T20:27:37","modified_gmt":"2015-02-12T20:27:37","slug":"homework-feb-12-thurs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=708","title":{"rendered":"Homework Feb 12 (Thurs)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another wonderful day!<\/p>\n<p>We got all the way down to negative 10 today! \u00a0It was absolutely amazing. \u00a0The students met every expectation we had for the day. \u00a0I was very impressed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In math we talked about putting together what we have done with adding and simplifying fractions. \u00a0Some students are still having trouble with these things because they have yet to master their math facts.<\/p>\n<p>Multiplication tables and quick math facts are essentially a 3rd grade topic, and if students have not completely mastered them at this point, they need to be doubling their efforts outside of the classroom to get this done. \u00a0If a student can&#8217;t rattle off the answers to things like 8&#215;9, 7&#215;6, and 9&#215;4 almost immediately, they will be ill prepared to deal with the majority of 5th grade topics, let alone middle school mathematics.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight students have a sheet of fraction addition problems to do. \u00a0They should simplify their answers, and make sure they find the simplest form. \u00a0We did a few together as examples:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/AddingSimplifyingExample.pdf\">AddingSimplifyingExample<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And a clean homework sheet:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/AddingAndSimplifyingFeb12.pdf\">AddingAndSimplifyingFeb12<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Language Arts we talked more about \u00a0&#8216;If&#8217;, and finished it together. \u00a0Tonight students should write the fourth stanza in their own words. \u00a0It&#8217;s a good one!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/If-Passage.pdf\">If Passage<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In Science we talked briefly about weather patterns and meteorologists. \u00a0Unfortunately we ran out of time because we were talking about the North Carolina Children&#8217;s book awards. \u00a0Tonight students should read a short passage on weather patterns and answer some questions:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/WeatherMaps.pdf\">WeatherMaps<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>so, tl;dr<\/p>\n<p>adding and simplifying fractions:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/AddingAndSimplifyingFeb12.pdf\">AddingAndSimplifyingFeb12<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Write the fourth stanza in your own words:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/If-Passage.pdf\">If Passage<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Read and answer some questions:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/WeatherMaps.pdf\">WeatherMaps<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>as always, read for 35 minutes!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have a good one,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>-Mr. Potter<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Also remember tomorrow is early release!!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Next week is looking really dicey&#8230;.Snow and Ice Monday night \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another wonderful day!
