{"id":881,"date":"2015-05-26T19:22:00","date_gmt":"2015-05-26T19:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=881"},"modified":"2015-05-26T19:22:00","modified_gmt":"2015-05-26T19:22:00","slug":"homework-may-26-tues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/?p=881","title":{"rendered":"Homework May 26 (Tues)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>That field trip was AWESOME!<\/p>\n<p>I hope that you all had a fantastic 3-day weekend, and got a chance to relax. \u00a0I hate to be a party pooper, but please remember that this week is still a five day week: we have Saturday school for a full day. \u00a0Buses will run as a normal day. \u00a0There will be breakfast and lunch at school, but there will be no before or after-care.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So today we talked about all of the math things that we should have learned before we leave 5th grade. \u00a0We rated these things ourselves on a scale of 1-10.<\/p>\n<p>1: I don&#8217;t know how to do this<\/p>\n<p>5: I kinda know how to do this<\/p>\n<p>10: I do this correctly every time<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are taking a bunch of mini-assessments this week to see if our ideas about our own abilities match up to what we are actually doing. \u00a0If you are curious the math sheet looks like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Math.docx\">Math<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tonight students should do the last two pages in their math review packet:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/CC-5th-grade-word-problems.pdf\">CC-5th-grade-word-problems<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow we&#8217;ll be talking about Language Arts just like this, and doing similar mini-assessments throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Language Arts we talked about the history of immigration in the United States, because tonight we have a short reading selection about Ellis Island. \u00a0Students should read pages 81-82 in their Motivation Reading books, and answer the questions on pages 83-86.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We also began work on an opinion piece. \u00a0Students should write about whether they believe next year&#8217;s 5th graders should go on the same trip they went on last Friday. \u00a0If they did not go on the trip, they should use what they know about the trip to form an opinion.<\/p>\n<p>The assignment as given to them:<\/p>\n<p>Write an opinion piece about whether next year&#8217;s 5th graders should go on the field trip. \u00a0Should they go? Should they do something else? \u00a0Why or why not? \u00a0Support your opinion with facts from the field trip.<\/p>\n<p>Minimum 4 paragraphs: opening paragraph states your opinion and why. \u00a0Two supporting paragraphs explain your reasons. \u00a0Final paragraph draws your conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t expect this to be perfect, but I would like to see some solid reasoning and thought put into this.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we looked over our ecosystems review packet, and checked the first half of the answers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>so, tl;dr<\/p>\n<p>Final two pages of Math review packet:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpottersclassroom.com\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/CC-5th-grade-word-problems.pdf\">CC-5th-grade-word-problems<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Opinion piece on the field trip<\/p>\n<p>pages 83-86 in motivation reading<\/p>\n<p>As always, read!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have a good one,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>-Mr. Potter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>That field trip was AWESOME!
