This month has been insane. Too many days missed, and we haven’t had a full day of school in a MONTH. ugg. I will also be changing the layout of this website before the 3rd quarter begins. I have something in mind that will make it much simpler for the two teams to find their individual information.
Today we talked a great deal about equivalent forms of numbers. We talked about how someone can have $10 in many different ways:
a single 10 dollar bill
10 one dollar bills
100 dimes (tenths)
1000 pennies (hundredths)
We took some notes and talked about this a good deal:
It is very important that students understand that our standard algorithm for subtraction involves finding equivalent forms of a number that make it simple to subtract.
Tomorrow will be our last day this quarter. Students will receive a progress report and we’ll talk about whether they are happy with their grades or not, and what they can do to improve or continue to do to be successful.
